Coordinators' Downloads
Last updated June 19, 2006
The files that are available for download on this page are in Microsoft Word, MS Publisher or MS Powerpoint. If you do not have Publisher, most likely your local printing shop will. Be sure to carefully review the files before printing. Feel free to make any changes that you desire (for example, you may want to shorten the quiz or revise the evaluation sheet). Most of the files are available in both English and Spanish translations (and several are available in French).
If you have any problems downloading any of these files (or have any questions), please contact me ( Lisa Sorenson) and let me know. Also, if you have suggestions for improving any of these files, I would very much appreciate your input. We are continuing to work on a number of additional files (e.g. more Powerpoint presentations on wetlands, birds, etc.) that will help you with your workshop organization and delivery or in teaching about wetlands. They will be added to this page so check back frequently.
Sample Invitation - MS Word file (2 pages). Uploaded September 29, 2003. This is an example of an invitation to a natural resource agency to attend a wetlands education workshop. Modify it to fit your situation (e.g., a letter to a school principal or Ministry of Education official will differ slightly). Be sure that all essential information is included (date, start and end time, location, what to bring, what to wear, etc.). List the sponsoring agencies. Plan your workshop so that you have at least 7 hours available (e.g., 9 AM to 4 PM, 8 AM to 3 PM). Be sure to check with school administrators ahead of time to see what dates and time slots will work best for teachers. Late arrivals are often a problem, so if you want to start at 9 AM, state on the invitation that the workshop begins at 8:30 AM!

Workshop Information Flyer - MS Word file with 2 pictures (2 pages). Revised version uploaded June 19, 2006. This is an informational flyer that describes the wetlands education workshop, workbook and mission of the WIWD Working Group. This should be sent along with the invitation to attend the workshop as it provides more detail on the content and agenda of the workshop.

Sample Agenda - MS Word file (2 pages). Revised version uploaded June 19, 2006. This is the agenda from a wetlands workshop in Montserrat (April 2006). It's an example of how the workshop day can be organized and also has a rough agenda for the wetlands field trip on Day 2. You will likely have to adjust what/how much you cover as they day goes on, depending on the size of the group and how long it actually takes to complete activities, demonstrations and presentations. This is a nice page to print in color (for logos in header)

Before & After Quiz - MS Word file (2 pages, print front and back, 2 copies per participants. Revised version uploaded June 19, 2006. Each participant should complete this quiz twice, once during the arrival and registration period on the first day of the workshop and again at the end of the second day following the field trip. The quiz can be completed in 10-15 minutes. The "before" quiz will provide you with a measure of each participants' level of knowledge and attitudes and perceptions about wetlands before the workshop (you or your helpers can quickly skim the answers while groups are preparing their charade), enabling you to adjust what you cover and emphasize over the two days. The "after" quiz measures what and how much the participants learned during the two days, providing you with feedback on how successful you were at conveying essential concepts and information on wetlands. Number each participant's name tag and ask them to put their number on the quiz instead of their name (so that the quiz is anonymous). This helps to lesson "test anxiety." The quizzes can be graded and the results graphed into a histogram.

Workshop Evaluation Form - MS Word file, 1 page. Uploaded September 29, 2003. Have each participant fill out this evaluation at the end of Day 1. It's very important to have this feedback to improve your next workshop and also to report (resoundingly positive!) results to grant agencies. Tip: present each participant with a poster of the WIWD after they have turned in their evaluation form and quiz.
